River Heads Shopping Village

Friendly shopping with great service • Your last chance to load up on supplies for Fraser Island

In late 2004 a decision was made to build a brand new shopping village in the booming seaside town of River Heads.
The site chosen was high on the hill where the Susan River meets the mighty Mary River on the original
River Heads Property Sales office site. The land has the most amazing river views which extend over
150km’s to the Bauple Mountains just north of Gympie.

Work started on the site in April 2005 and the first order of business was to move the River Heads Property Sales shed off the site until they could move into their shiny new office within the shopping village.

Many local tradesmen and businessmen worked tirelessly for 11 months until the final product was complete.

The shopping village was officially opened on the 4th of April 2006 by the mayor of Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen in front of a large excited group of locals.

The River Heads shopping village immediately injected new life into the small town offering a 7 day SPAR supermarket where locals could stock their kitchens without having to drive into Hervey Bay.

Also a first for River Heads was the Suzie River Café which is now a fully licensed café during the day and bar and grill 4 nights a week. The café has some of the most incredible views and food to rival any café in Hervey Bay, this has been confirmed by the large group bookings they get from all over Hervey Bay and the amount of locals who dine there on a daily basis.

There is now a bottle shop (River Heads Cellars) and hair and beauty salon (Envee Hair and Beauty) operating within the shopping village giving locals just about everything that they need in the one spot. Plans are now in to duplicate the shopping centre giving more retailers a chance to get their business established in this rapidly growing community.

The planned extension will include a larger restaurant, medical centre and service station plus many other specialty shops. Another addition to the site will be single and 2 storey motel units plus 2 and 3 bedroom duplexes all with views directly up the Mary River.

This development will transform the river front of River Heads and help the continued growth of the area well into the future.
